Rather than paying for an expensive full replacement with entirely new materials, the homeowner asked Desmond to salvage and reuse the existing tiles and timber battens.

What We Did

Batten Salvage: De-nailed and removed the existing timber battens without splitting or compromising the wood.
Modern Membrane Installation: Removed the perished bitumen paper and laid a heavy-duty, vapour-permeable breathable membrane across the rafters with generous 150mm overlaps to stop wind-driven rain.
Re-Securing & Tiling: Mechanically fastened the salvaged timber battens back into the rafters using corrosion-resistant fixings, then interlocked and aligned the original concrete tiles back into position.
Site Cleanup: Cleared all degraded felt debris, flushed the gutters, and conducted a full water-tightness check.
